From China Media Blog: Beijing Adopts RFID System For Pork: Beijing welcomed the arrival of a pork RFID tracking system on Monday, and this has enabled consumers to easily find out all the information related to the pork they buy, including the pig's breeding, slaughtering and circulation.
The Live Pig Food Chain RFID Tracking System, a demonstrative project of the State Golden Card Project, was first adopted in Chengdu, Sichuan Province last year. It is an advanced system that can be used to keep track of the whole process of pork products, ensuring the transparency of the entire process.
The system will be put into use at all large scale supermarkets in Beijing in March. However, the price of the pork products at that time will be more expensive because of the increase of the production cost.
