WiMax Experiment by China Unicom?

From China Tech News - Rumor: China Unicom Trying WiMax In 21 Provinces: Local media report that China Unicom (CHU), the second largest mobile service provider in China, is planning to invest RMB70 million to build a WiMax experimental network in 21 provinces in China.

The report says that China Unicom started WiMax a long time ago and it is now testing on some relevant nodes on the network and has had many 16D product suppliers, including Datang and Potevia.

China Unicom is also said to have compiled a feasibility report on the WiMax network. However, the reports say that the work on WiMax will be stopped for a while in the coming days, for China Unicom needs to consider a suitable business pattern to run the network. There is still no word on when full roll-out of the service will begin.
